Pilot Light Foundation

About Us

The mission of The Pilot Light Foundation is to improve the quality of life for people living in extreme poverty, in Africa, through sustainable income. We strive to create a solid foundation for future generations to build upon. When individuals can support themselves, they can establish a sustainable and thriving community for generations to come. Lasting self-sufficiency, secure interdependent communities, and self-determination are all that we hope for our future. We build resilience by working on the relationship between the individual and the community. Pilot Light’s focus is on building the framework to enable individuals and communities to have financial sustainability. There has been a shift among organizations that work to alleviate poverty towards focusing on education and sustainable living. The old ways of simply giving aid were not working. Communities have stayed dependent on ongoing aid when there is no plan for self-sufficiency in place. The idea of the pilot light is that we will light a small spark that can grow into a larger fire, after we are gone... We are very proud that 100% of donations made go directly to the funding of projects.
